In April 2011, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced new heating oil regulations for NYC buildings. The new rules require that by 2015 all NYC buildings switch from No. 6 heating oil to No. 4 heating oil. Since buildings will be required to once again switch to either No. 2 oil or natural gas by 2030, many building owners are contemplating making the larger change now, to avoid two separate conversions. Natural gas currently costs about 30 percent less than fuel oil.
Our firm is an expert in design of boiler fuel conversion. We have also engineered conversions of boilers to a dual fuel system, which gives our clients an option of purchasing either oil or natural gas, depending on the markets at the time and purchasing gas at a required rate. |
